The folding green roof of the building replants the green space taken up by the buildings footprint on the site. Taking advantage of the natural slope of the site the building positions itself sensitively in the landscape. A large building, its 65,000m² of area could form part of town. We wanted the project to have the characteristics of a town center and break with the monumentality expected with this kind of program. The building is consists of three wings organized around a vast public space which relates to its immediate environment. The organization of the different volumes gives visitors a clear understanding of the access and circulation.
The roof is the unifying element in this design, the external awning with a metal under face is continuous between the exterior and the interior of the building. The emblem of the project, the roof is designed as an origami, to design a new relief, of sloping vegetated sloping plains. This complex of soil and plants provides good insulation. The structural frame allows random small squares to cover the technical elements of the building (eg photovoltaic cells). This walk is punctuated by themes and topics of places. The upper square, or public space is a pedestrian plaza dedicated to the world of the house, the covered market, shopping mall dedicated to food, and the Rue Basse are the shops devoted to sports, leisure and culture.
